The enactment of the relevant UN Conventions in 1961, 1971 and 1988, and since then an international policy strategy of prevention and enforcement (commonly referred to as the ‘War on Drugs’) has attempted to achieve a ‘drug-free world’. Today, it is painfully clear that this goal has not been achieved; recreational drugs have become more potent, more diverse, cheaper and more readily available than was ever the case before prohibition began (Rolles, Murkin, Powell, Kushlick, Slater, 2012; Stockwell, Gruenewald, Toumbourou, Loxley, 2005; UNODC, 2013; Dan Werb et al., 2013). In parallel to this, the economic cost of the War on Drugs to all nations, including the cost of enforcement, the cost of the imprisonment of offenders, public health costs, loss of productivity and costs incurred as a result of associated organised crime activity and related minor crime has exponentially increased and continues to increase today (Baum, 1996). In contrast, the global illicit drug trade accounted for approximately 1% of total world trade in 2003, estimated at $321.6 billion (UNDCP, 2003). In the UK, the illicit drug trade generated as much as  £6.6 billion in 2007 (Matrix Knowledge Group, 2007). This failed war has been waged worldwide at the expense of the personal liberty and individual freedoms of those who use drugs, for reasons that are recreational, medicinal or spiritual, or as the result of a pathological dependency- the illness of addiction. Two Vacation Spots Adventure! Everyone probably has an adventurous moment they will remember. When I explain my adventurous moment to friends, I never forget the scenarios that happen between 2010 and 2012. I visited two different cities in two different States during this time doing the same activity, carrying out the same fun experience from an internship, but had different results and likes. It was the summer of 2010 I had to visit Folly Beach, and then summer 2011 was Pensacola Beach, and next was Folly Beach again during summer 2012. Not only do both beaches clinch personal memories in my head, but both areas have something in common to pull your interest, as well as they differ such that you can be able to choose where to spend a†¦show more content†¦It’s important to note that the two areas have awesome attractive touristic site. If you enjoy the view of huge water and jet skiing, then you are not making a mistake to narrow your search down to these two. When you visit these two areas, find time to tour the city’s bordering these towns and you will find interesting museums. Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon museum and Charleston City Market were my favorite in Charleston while the National Naval Aviation Museum was my favorite in Pensacola. These two cities are located in the South and both are in the upper 50% where the dominant religion is Baptist. Precipitations in these areas are in the top 70%. Additionally, both beaches have a huge play ground covered with sand closest to the water. Furthermore, these areas have beach houses for rent with the expensive houses closest to the beach, and summer is the best season of the year to visit these areas. Regardless the beach, be it Folly Beach or Pensacola Beach, remember to swim only around the shore of the water, please, don’t go deep trying to prove you can swim, these are waters’ bigger than your imaginary swimming pool. However, these two beaches differ greatly considering the fact that they are located in two different States. Folly Beach is located in South Carolina while Pensacola Beach is located in Florida. The cheerleaders that are serious about this sport understand that many elements are needed in making a â€Å"die-hard† cheerleader. I would say these elements are dedication, commitment, heart and soul. Conflict is a force which causes issues between individuals and groups. This force can be seen in the novella â€Å"Animal Farm† by George Orwell and the picture book â€Å"The Rabbits† by John Marsden and Shaun Tan. Both of these texts convey conflict between forces using allegory. In the novella â€Å"Animal Farm† conflict is shown between man and animal. This force causes issues between Farmer Jones and the animals. This creates a rebellion, which is inspired by Old Major’s song â€Å"Beasts of England†. This song unites the animals and for them to desire a ‘golden future time’. When Jones is taken out of the picture, a common enemy is required and in this case it is Snowball. Napoleon feels that his leadership is threatened by Snowball and his ideas, for example the windmill. Napoleon sent out his vicious dogs and brought the expulsion of Snowball from the farm. George Orwell shows the consequences of conflict in â€Å"Animal Farm† by the corruption of power. Another example of corruption of power in the novella â€Å"Animal Farm† is when the chickens admit to be working with Snowball. â€Å"Animal Farm†, the novella, shows the issues between the pigs and the rest of the animals. The pigs are very selfish characters and symbolise communist leaders. The pigs are the ones who change the commandments for their benefit, they misuse their power, and manipulate the other unintelligent animals to thinking that their ways are correct, for example the pigs steal all the milk and apples for their own good and tell the other animals that they need all the food because they are the ‘brainworkers’ of the farm. In the end, the pigs start acting like humans† and taking on all of man’s behaviour, walking on their hind legs, they change the commandment â€Å"Four legs good, two legs bad† to â€Å"four legs good, two legs BETTER† and also change â€Å"all animals are equal† to â€Å"all animals are equal, BUT some animals are more equal than others†. The pigs change these commandments because they were known to be greater than the other animals and the ones who have the authority. The picture book, â€Å"The Rabbits† written by John Marsden and drawn by Shaun Tan shows conflict between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people in relation to the ownership of the land, Australia. The rabbits who represent the British, invade the coast of Australia and the numbats who symbolise the Aboriginals in the area. Both cultures believed that they owned the land and the numbats didn’t know what was happening or who they were. â€Å"At first we didn’t know what to think. They looked a bit like us. There weren’t many of them. Some were friendly. † Shaun Tan and John Marsden create conflict within the cultures by the Rabbits invading the numbats territory. By looking at the pictures in detail you can see that the rabbits are larger in size and stronger than the numbats. This technique is used to show that the rabbits are more dominate compared to the numbats. When the Rabbits come there is confusion and anxiety from the numbats as their environment is destroyed by the invading culture. â€Å"They ate our grass; they chopped down our trees and scared away our friends†¦Ã¢â‚¬  Issues between groups or individuals are displayed in the texts â€Å"Animal Farm† the novella written by George Orwell and the picture book by Shaun Tan and John Marsden â€Å"The Rabbits†. An allegorical fable is used in both of these texts and techniques already talked about make these texts are a great representation of conflict.
